what happens when othello is played on a bigger board?

Othello has been played on 8x8 and 10x10 boards for quite a while now.
Pro for 10x10 is that there aren't programmes of the same strength as there are for 8x8 meaning its harder to learn openings and there are more moves to make, which means more mistakes to make, which means more creative games
A con in my opinion though is that 10x10 loses some of the subtle complexities in edge play that make it slightly less interesting to play/watch.

How complex, advanced and sophisticated is the game of othello compared to other games like checkers, chess, pool checkers, lines of action, Chinese Chess, Turkish checkers, Breakthrough, and all the other board games played on a 8x8 board?
How much time of thinking and strategy is involved in othello?

I would argue that Othello is ever bit as complex as all of the games you mention. In my experience of other games, which is limited there is only one game that is way more complicated than any other and that is Go.
Usually Othello is played in tournaments with each player getting 30 minutes each.
