I've had my miniature poodle for 12 years. Certain times she barks very loud when we have someone in the house trying to sleep. It used to be you could get her to quiet down by whispering. In her old age, she doesn't hear whispering anymore, so you have to yell at her to make her stop barking.
I love my dog, but after a few hours of her barking, will cause me to wish to throttle her. I think an anti bark collar is far more humane than strangulation.

There are other methods to stop a dog from barking. I'm not a big fan of using electric shocks as a correction for dogs. Many times, these shock collars make the problems worse, and can cause damage to the dog. If one doesn't have the time to train a dog how to be quite, then there are the no bark collars that release a spray that relaxes the dogs, and gets the dog to quite. Its much more pleasant than a shock collar, and it's effective too.
