  • I recall many nights in my youth, lying awake at night hearing the B-36 bombers flying qt 35,000+ feet. To this day, the eeriest sound I have ever heard.

  • I am becoming more and more interested in contra-props starting with the Supermarine Spitfire XIV Racer and now the TU-95 Bear. This is mainly true because of with one propeller the plane tends to drag the way the propeller it rotating (clockwise), but with contra-prop, there is two forces evenly creating directional lift. Also because there cool :)

  • TU-95 and B-36 both awesome.B-36 first conceived to bomb Germany from the USA non stop if England fell. Plane constantly modified with piston/jet evolution, advancing technology, and SAC's mission needs. The piece of history unappreciated is B-36 takeoff sequence. Mantz aviation camera plane took off alongside B-36 filming it so close to wash and vortex. Note how far to right B-36 is on runway.Never again in anyone's lifetime. All done with computers now.Thank you to all who served.

  • this called the NB36 =]

  • @abdwyer Low drone similar to a blimp.

  • Sorry .. it was a low drone not unlike a fleet of Goodyear blimps.

  • @BrodyLuv2 i klnow what you are trying to say. But a nuclear plane is a totall no go!

  • We are so Dumb.

  • @onlymusicism

As are the Nuclear Subs!!....Mercury in Fish?..now I wonder where that has come from hey!?

  • Now THAT was a bad idear !

  • @scottbell440 Yes, Russians could not develop good enough jet engines. I think now lower speed , much smaller payload capacity is less important than 50 years ago since cruse missiles having bigger range and weight less. 50 years ago bear however, was loosing badly to B-52.

  • Amazing engineering, the counter-rotating props.
