Wow, quite dramatic.
Surprised Jet Ranger was that powerful.
Probably the only option left is 3-4 hover craft, & still cost the same.
Nice to know there are options.

he didn't know the lake was that shallow, the dirt/sand you see was completely covered (albeit by 8-9 inches of water) ... if they had been able to get a boat to tow them off the bar that evening they would have been okay, but the next morning the water dropped 6 inches (so only 2 inches of water) ...

Avista was lowering the water level so that they had room for more water from runoff into Lake Coeur D'Alene ... Long lake is 2 dams below the big lake ... so as long as snow was melting the water in long was going to be too low to get the boat off
