Had an audio project. So I went crazy.

15 mics on drums

3 kicks, 3 snares, 2x overheads, 2x room, 4 toms

Hired a mesa boogie triple rectifier, 57 and 121 combo, however I had under an hour to pull a good tone and start recording.

handmade Maton 12 string guitar, my new toy.

bass is borrowed from my mate Scott Redman.

Spent forever on this.

screen cap is pro tools 9, went crazy with acoustic tracks when it came out

  • What microphones DID you use? I'm curious...lol

  • @MediaTrapper haha big list.

    kick - audix D6, Beyer M88, NS10 driver (sub)

Snare - audix i5 and SM57 taped together, beta57 (bottom)

    4xMD451 on toms

2 Royer 121 over heads, and 2 U87 room mics.

We had a single mic as well that we use for comp, just a fun mic really but I cannot remember what it was, a Shure KSM I think. But I didnt use it in my mix.

12 string was DI with Rode NT2A recorded in my bedroom, guitars were SM57 and Royer 121 layered 8 times. Bass was DI with a dist pedel and comp

  • nice job BIG sound.. did you use beat detective or audio warp markers for Drums???

nice gtr sound.. ! and bass as well.. im hearing just a bit of warping here and there just to tighten up the toms fills... rock on again nice job!!

  • @inphazeaudio

Thanks man! No BD on drums, no warps, no pitch shifts. We used a click but thats about it!

Toms snare and kick are enhanced but that's about it. Glad you liked it!

  • The drums sound awesome. PT9 is great! I'm so glad they finall stopped tethering it to specific audio interfaces. Now we can install it on our StudioBLADE keyboard workstation. Check out the videos on our channel.
