This clip came from the AM/FM album that was released in the early 1970s. I first heard of Carlin as a little kid of about 6 back then when some teenagers that lived next door to me played one of his albums on a turntable they had in the garage. I remember going back home and repeating one of the comedy routines for my mom with all the new colorful words I had learned. I remember my mom going next door to have some words with the guys next door and then getting into big trouble (probably got a mouthful of soap) after that. A few days later I asked the guys next door if I could hear the record again and they of course replied "NO WAY!!!"

About a decade later when I was older I found the George Carlin album "AM/FM" in a used record store and picked it up as I remembered it from my youth. This clip is actually a "clean" bit from the album which his early comedy really didn't have non stop profanity in it. George's stuff got angrier as he got older and better as well. This however should give folks not familiar with his earlier stuff an idea of the range of material he came up with

  • He didn't get angrier, he just didn't give a shit.

  • Heard this when i was a kid and just now heard it again. Thanks for posting this!

  • My favorite Carlin bit from that time was "Toledo Window box"

  • hahahaha (TOKE) SUPER GOLD!

  • George Carlin is DA' BOSS!!

  • Something was edited out at 4:44. There's a clear jump in the sound track, as if something censor-able was taken out. Anyone know what it was?

  • @shrikechan true

  • @Runningtail He was always smart. And the older Carlin was still goofy, sometimes. I'd say the later stuff was more about pointing out things that he found stupid, which was just as funny as anything else he did.

  • I liked most of Carlin's material, as he changed his approach like any artist as time goes on.

  • Strange, but I like the Asian impression hahahaha "saigon" ........... and the acne.......hahahahahahahaha
