Americans' right to access fresh, healthy foods of their choice is under attack. Farmageddon tells the story of small, family farms that were providing safe, healthy foods to their communities and were forced to stop, sometimes through violent ac-tion, by agents of misguided government bureaucracies, and seeks to figure out why.

Filmmaker Kristin Canty's quest to find healthy food for her four children turned into an educational journey to discover why access to these foods was being threatened. What she found were policies that favor agribusiness and factory farms over small family-operated farms selling fresh foods to their communities. Instead of focusing on the source of food safety problems — most often the industrial food chain — policymakers and regulators implement and enforce solutions that target and often drive out of business small farms that have proven themselves more than capable of producing safe, healthy food, but buckle under the crushing weight of government regulations and excessive enforcement actions.

Farmageddon highlights the urgency of food freedom, encouraging farmers and consumers alike to take action to preserve individuals' rights to access food of their choice and farmers' rights to produce these foods safely and free from unreasona-bly burdensome regulations. The film serves to put policymakers and regulators on notice that there is a growing movement of people aware that their freedom to choose the foods they want is in danger, a movement that is taking action with its dollars and its voting power to protect and preserve the dwindling number of family farms that are struggling to survive.

It makes my blood boil pissing all over peoples livelihoods in the name of protecting the peoples health and then going down the pub for a pint with monsanto cronies after (no doubt). It's sick! And then raiding Rawesome with killing machines... it makes me feel ill how sick and agenda driven they are.

Reminds me of the old saying "You are what you eat", I think raising, and growing your own food, gives you a better appreciation for life in general, and in these times of gmo's, antibiotic abuse, and animal cruelty, living a self sustainable life is a most.

you dont know what meat i'm eating, i live in the Netherlands, Europe, and my parents have friends who own a farm and sell their animals meat as a small business, we know how our meat has been fed and how it once lived. and, btw, humans are not ''designed'' to be omnivores, as opposed to herbivores, but we EVOLVED to be omnivores

the corporate food industry is under the same umbrella as the corporate pharmaceutical industry. When they're overstocked on kaopectate, suddenly there's an outbreak of diarrhea.. and when they're overstocked on ex-lax, people find themselves constipated. The game is alot more sinister than meets the eye, and we, the people are the pawns, and all too often sick or dead victims. There is a solution, but we don't have enough lamp posts to hang all these bastards from.

@jlarsena: Well, I guess they will soon roll out the Round-Up-Ready human, too; but actually there scheme is way more sinister: For they failed to or wantonly did not make their modified plants incapable of crossing with the natural ones; which does destroy the natural seeds and the poor farmers have not only their harvests destroyed but also are sued by the said most wicked corporation on behalf of copyright infringement and get usually busted at court.

You're right. Monsanto has taken over and farmers are told to grow a seperate crop for insects to eat. I'll eat what bugs eat, been doing it for thousands and thousands of years. Not sure why it's so bad now? I'll feed myself out of my garden, I know that's not GMO. I don't trust anyone that wants to play God. The stuff is perfect the way it is, without the Roundup spliced into it.

@jlarsena: Not to forget big chemistry as they are misusing genetics to make their plants immune against their pesticides and not against the illnesses and parasites; but to harass the few normal farmers thus is a really wicked thing to do.

It's obvious to me that the FDA is a failure. But what do people expect when they have a revolving door between the FDA and Big Pharma? Also Operation Paperclip didn't help us, they should have been thrown in jail, not let loose here in places like Plum Island to create more diseases like Lyme adn West Nile.

I would rather eat what a bear does, compared to the crap in our supermarkets. Look up "meat glue secret", that's the meat you're eating. And most of it is not grass fed.
