Call it corny if you want: it's a classic rendition of this old depression goodie!

My father (1920-2006) used play this song every Christmas. Jingle Bells means nothing to me compared to this. And it was played on a record player that was a piece of furniture. High as a twelve yr olds neck and chock full of vacuum tubes. RPM's from 33 to 78. And the Haile Sellasie lyric is correct. Jah Mon.

Great movie with so many great songs. George's character was called Panama Smith, based somewhat on Texas Guinan. I remember late in the film when Bogart is looking for Cagney and someone tells him Cagney can be found down at some cafe where that broken down canary sings, refering to George's character. And that great line in the movie after Cagney is shot when the policeman asks her what Cagney did for a living, and she replies he used to be a big shot.

Love this song best sang by actress Phillis George in The Roaring Twenties movie co starring JAMES CAGNEY & PRICILLA LANE... because this song describesOURneighborhood2atee~
~ "our little old shack by the old railroad tracks, about 25 feet from the railroad tracks, keeps calling us back"
the roofs all torn til it stumbles to the ground,
but I better get back to my shanty OLDtown@HB!

Thanks to the person who wrote the comment about the line - "I'd be just as classy as Haile Selasse". I spent ten minutes listening to the song trying to figure out the words!!!
