This song was written by Roger and Melanie Hoffman and can be found on their "Stories of Jesus" CD at their website link: http://www.hoffmanhouse.com/stories.html
The singer is 9-yr.-old Hannah Ford.

Jesus Christ was and is the Son of the Almighty God. He was the only perfect man to walk the earth. He healed the sick and caused the lame to walk, the blind to see, the deaf to hear. He raised the dead. Yet He allowed His own life to be taken in an act of atonement, the magnitude of which is beyond our comprehension.

In the Garden of Gethsemane was the beginning of the process of His Atonement - the payment for all of our sin, and our opportunity to live in glory after death. There, Jesus offered His beautiful Intercessory prayer on our behalf. As the weight of our sin and sorrow weighed down upon him, he asked the Father if it was possible for "this cup (task) to be removed" - as it seemed too much to bear. Luke records that this anguish was so great that his sweat was as it were "great drops of blood falling down to the ground" (Luke 22 : 44), a physical manifestation of his pain. However he stated it was not as he willed, but as the Father willed it. And he continued.

After the agony of Gethsemane came His arrest, His trials, His condemnation, then the unspeakable pain of His death on the cross. Jesus endured all of this for us. Just before his death upon the cross, he declared "It is finished". The full payment and sacrifice was complete.

Jesus' body was buried in Josephs tomb. On the third day, He rose in a triumphant Resurrection and appeared to many.

None of us can fully comprehend the splendor of His life, His death, and His universal gift to humankind. However, we may declare with the centurion who said at His death, "Truly this man was the Son of God" (Mark 15 : 39). I believe in Him and I love Him.

  • I love this video/song and want to use it in a lesson for Christmas. Is there any way I could get a copy of this?

  • @MsJCW5 there are plenty of free video capturing services online. Simply follow the instructions and then save it or burn it to a disk. Best wishes

  • 1 Corinthians 1:18 - For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

The Atonement occurred on the cross, no where else.

  • @GraceAlone71 thank you for visiting and commenting. As answered in previous responses, Jesus' suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane was the beginning of his Great Atonement journey, and is meant in no way to diminish his suffering on the Cross, which was the culminating event. Jesus is the Savior of Mankind, who shed His blood for each of us, beginning in Gethsemane during his powerful Intercessory prayer, and concluding on The Cross when he proclaimed in his final breath "It is finished".

  • help her by asking her to sing Thankyou Mormonsoprano for your advice and help. I know that I am doing the right thing for myself and Livvy-Lou. She-like Hannah-has a true musical gift but is very nervous about singing in Public. So at primary, they are going to sing a verse of a hymn at first and gradually give her more confidence as a gift like hers should be shared at Chapel if nowhere else! (Some say Chapel, some say Church, some say Temple-which is it please,I dont want to offend anyone?)

  • @1Ethnie Technically speaking, the "Chapel" is the room inside the "Church" building where Mormons hold our large one-hour combined meetings on Sunday [such as Sacrament Meeting]. However, members regularly use "Church" and "Chapel" interchangeably to refer to their local meeting house. No need to worry about offending anyone! The "Temple" is a separate building where sacred ordinances such as eternal marriage & proxy baptisms for the dead are performed. Temples are always closed on Sundays.
