We are building an Earth Bag Home made of poly bags, old tires, bottles, and adobe in Garfield, Arkansas. This video shows the importance of soil testing for filling the bags. Paul made the choice to not use the soil from the home site but instead chooses to fill the bags with crushed limestone. He feels it will be faster and more efficient because the limestone packs like concrete and is inexpensive. We paid less than $7 for one ton. We are not sure how many bags that will fill, but maybe you will find out in the next video. Evan (Lisa's son) & Sarah, Scott & Tanya Smith of Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge (good friends), and Wanda (Paul's mother) all share their thoughts on the Earth bag structure and how that affects the environment, financial considerations, and recycling aspects of building this type of home. Stay tuned for more videos!

  • great building i didn't know at first what was that sand but now I know that's totally cool.

  • are you done now?

  • Hobbits!

IMPORTANT MUST SEE!!! What if you could build a Monolithic dome with 2,600 sq ft of living space, costs 10% of a the average home to build, and provides protection and efficiency from its 24in thick wall? Watch "A HOME FIT FOR ROYALTY"

  • WOW. That's really cheap for the sand. It will be like cement if it gets wet. What is the isulation value of this? I would think it would be like reguler cement blocks? I would like to build a straw bale house just for the insulation value. I live in Oregon and hate the cold. I can't wait to see the finished house. How do you plan to finish the inside? Earth Plaster? Good luck with it all
