@hawthoc of curiosity. Many greats never had a college education at all, but were able to stand on their own two feet and common sense and didn't have to hide behind the crutch of any ivy league degree. which is exactly what it is, a crutch. I have no debt. Compare my $15,000 total out of pocket expenses to say $74,000 all to get the same job, but less stick up the butt.. Case closed.

@hawthoc contributions to fundamental science (quite possibly superior, UT Southwestern). Seeing as the national average is 72% student loan default within 2 years, grade and degree inflation running rampant and at an all time high. You have to be smart in times like these and stop being blinded by all the pretty Crimson. Harvard and Ivy league schools in general attract the close minded Type A's of this nation, and that is fine. But not for the practically intelligent with a well rounded scope

@hawthoc the end, when I'm 50 years old, will give me the humbleness to say, I can change my own tires and don't have to thrive and survive off the notion that "oh but I went to Harvard, doesn't that make me better?"... NO it doesn't. you're a human like everyone else, just a human that chose to spend $38... excuse me, $37k per year (like a thousand even matters) when this girl went for pennies on the dollar to a renowned medical professions school, which is akin to Harvard in all of it's resea

@hawthoc what makes you assume that I tried to get in? nothing in my wildest dreams would give me the desire to go to a school like that where people put so much importance on booksmarts and literature and such to the point that most cannot even change a tire or do their own laundry. I chose the sensible route and now have a family, with no debt and a job starting out in the $90,000's because I chose a school that was perfectly adequate and put more emphasis on real world experience, which I'm

@aneal138 hard tuition is only 37,000 a year and my brother (when our family is fairly well off) got more than half of his tuition paid for. A lot of kids get full rides. and dont hate on the wealthy kids because they got into a top notch school that their parents decided to pay for them to go to. Just because you couldn't get in doesn't mean you can criticize them.
-
Well Harvard does give full rides throughout college, you know that right?
-
All I see is the millions in tuition that these kids are going to either be borrowing from mommy and daddy, or defaulting on in a few years. ouch.
-
That was disgusting.
-
All right.
