Hi thanks for the tutorial! I have a question. Can I rewire reason into Cubase and still record in reason? Because when I do the rewiring, I have to do the recordings all on Cubase. When I try to record on reason, nothing comes out. Thanks!

@LeonPhythian69 I tried what you suggested, but it didn't work. Thank you for the reply, though. And the sample rates are matched. I figured out how to work around it. It turns out if everything starts at bar 2 in both programs they stay in sync. Also if loop is on during playback when it loops back to the left marker they sync up for whatever reason. Not exactly fixed, but moving everything up to the second bar is no big deal.

Respond to this video... also it may be an idea to try and match your sample rates in both programes just to make sure that they are comunicating properly, a pain I know, but they don't always do as they are told...again hope that was some help

@TheSoundCenter I know it may sound like an odd question but have you checked that both of the tempo's are matched? cubase opens up naturally set onto 120 bpm which could be throwing your set up if your slave prog is set differently, also sometimes cubase forgets start /end points so when you open both drag over all the tracks in cubase and press P this should highlight all the tracks in cubase and give you a start and end time if it's changed in your slave just correct it, hope that helps

I've got a veeeeeery annoying problem. Whenever I rewire my Reason 5 into my Cubase 5, at appears to have worked just fine. Everything works exactly as it should until I hit play on the transport of either program. Everything in the Reason sequencer plays slightly before Cubase, so everything is completely off. It's like they're not synced up correctly or something. Does anybody know why it's doing this?

thanks dude, I totally forgot how to do this!

Ok please help this is driving me crazy reason is not showing up as a device in the devices tab and i cant get reason to turn in to a slave i am running reason 4 and cubase le5 maybe there are limitations on my software thanks alot guys.
Unfortunately at this time Cubase only allows you to rewire one stereo track. Basically channels 1/2. Supposedly Cubase will have multiple stereo inputs in the future, but as far as I know even in Cubase 4 this isn't possible. A workaround though is to do a mixdown of either channels 3/4 or 5/6 as a stereo mix. This will allow you to pan around and add stereo effects to that track. Kind of a pain but it works.

You can actually do it either way. Personally I sequence my synth and drum loops in reason then rewire that a single channel into Cubase. The downside to this is you can't apply Cubase effects to individual Reason tracks. I instead rely on Reason effects for Reason tracks.
The alternative approach would be to rewire each individual instrument from Reason into Cubase and activate a Rewire channel for each one. This way you can sequence your tracks in Cubase and add Cubase effects to Reason Tracks
