It doesn't do the public much good, because it's not available for them to view. I'm in the process of constructing a family tree and was told about possible footage from one of the local stations the 60s that featured my grandfather. I called and asked them about their archived footage. I was told that a subpoena is necessary for the public to be able to view THEIR archived footage.
