My experience after getting abnormal results from a smear test.
My next check up is on 8th December, so send me good vibes!
And remember, it's best to make full use of preventative measures-even if the very idea of it scares the crap out of us. The earlier these things are detected, the more chance you have of surviving it.

  • Hi, Tomorrow i am going for my coloscopy....im in CIN3.... i do not konow what to expect. I am from Liverpool ;D is the injection with anestetic painful? what shoul i took with me? so so so scared....xxx

  • @Vene1985 maybe I'm too late replying to catch you before your appointment, but I wish you luck. In the end I personally found the fear worse than the actual proceedure. I can honestly say I barely felt the aeasthetic needle. And as for what to take with you, a long skirt, a sanitary pad (although they have them available in the changing room so it's ok if you forget), and most of all a good supportive friend if available! Don't worry-it's really not so bad. It'll be over soon.

  • I had the biopsy with no anesthetic which didn't bother me but the silver nitrate the used to stem the bleeding hurt like the worst period pain you could ever have! My results came back saying I had CIN2 cell changes and needed a Lletz treatment. Wow that was nasty - 4 anesthetic needles and pain but the staff were lovely especially when my legs started to shake from the electricity. they removed 2 thirds of cervix. I'm healing now - 2 weeks past now.

  • @paulgofast mine was CIN2, but luckily for me only the one needle which I can honestly say was no less comfortable than a smear test. My legs shook from the electricity too-and I wasn't right for hours afterwards in my legs, weeks with other deeper non-descript aches inside. Then after what I thought was an all-clear I got another irregular result from my follow up smear, but after the second colposcopy I've been given the all clear. I hope everything is back to normal for you too now.

  • Good news girls: I had a LLETZ because of a cervical ulcer and I was absolutely horriefied.. I had it done under general anesthesia, my first general anesthesia ever - and I ABSOLUTELY felt NO pain during or after the operation!!!!!!! I just woke up after the surgery and only the blood filled cotton from down proved that I had an operation, but there was NO pain even after the operation! And I had it done in Egypt.. the third world.. so girls don't be afraid, if you worry, write me.

  • Thats great news-thanks for sharing your story too.

  • youre so frigging cool!!!!!!!! i think youre amazing! i LOVE stationary too and the past week since i had exactly the same thing done as you i have been sketching loads! big love, great to meet you one day x

  • I had a colposcopy last year, I was not offered an anesthetic of any kind and had cells removed from three places in my cervix. I'm not squeamish - I don't even mind a smear test, However I couldn't walk out of there properly, bleeding didn't stop for a week, I tried to work the next day and had to be sent home.

Had another smear, as a result tomorrow I am scheduled 2 have another colposcopy. I'm quite angry re what happened last time and do not want to have more bit's cut out me for no reason.

  • I had my colposcopy today. no one ever told me how much it would hurt. I cried the whole time but my boyfriend was there for me the whole time. I'm so sorry that you had to go though that alone. I'm so happy that you don't have cancer, hopefully my results will be the same. Thank you for your video :)

  • Thanks for your reply ;D I had coloscopy , LLETZ and biopsy done today. At one point, after they done the injection i felt so weird... at least its done and over with. Now i am waiting for the resuts. I found this site really helpful Thanks and good luck xxxxxx

  • PLEASE google 'unnecessary paps blogcritics' and read, read, READ

This is NOT a 'minor' procedure, it is often unnecessary (as HPV resolves itself over 90% of the time) ... this procedure causes various problems that can lead to infertility as well as problems carrying a child to term.

So many women have allowed their cervix to be mutilated without really understanding the risks ... and that Cervical Cancer is RARE!!!

Every cell in your body is precancer - no such thing!!!

  • Oh Bless.....I love your video...I had this done yesterday.....it was horrible...but glad it is done....just waiting for results now.....hugs xx
