San Frutuoso is wonderful - the tranquility and meditative jet jyful athmosphere is almost electric...as for the walk from San Fr, (I Giardino del Borgo) to Portofino. Amazing cliffs etc. I want to repeat this again and again because I believe that time changes everything ( just like Venice is different everytime) - this places never loose their magic.

Yes, it's worth any amount of money. I thought it was more increduous than Venice. One must do more exploring than just the harbour though. In the 40's and 50's it was not well known to most Americans and so all the Big Screen stars like Elizabeth Taylor, Marlyn Monroe, Marlin Brando...others would go there for rest, holidays and seclusion.

Just go to Santa Martherita and take a boat from there (5 minutes) you can also take a bus. The whole area is full of little coves and towns like that.

It is very beautiful but I only spent a bit of time around the harbor. Also the area is very expensive. I stayed in Vernazza, Cinque Terre for most of my time and took the train to the Portofino area twice. I think it's worth a stop.

Very nice, we just came back from Portofino today. I wonder how much you ended up paying at the restaurant ... we just had drinks .. and the beer alone was 7Euro ... pricy place ... but beautiful

I haven't been checking up on comments so sorry for the late response. I had a wonderful fish dish. Not, sure, maybe 25 Euros or so. Yep, the place is not cheap.
