@WyldeMagiK yes, make sure you register your song! then they can not own rights unless you sell the song to them. i hope this will help?

Is it possible to LOSE YOUR RIGHTS to one of these companies...?

@boliversmusic This is true, Reason I said credible label is because U wouldnt want one which did nothing but post ur track, U'd want one which sends out a bunch of emails to all its subscribers, Puts up previews here & there on their soundcloud, and all the stuff a lot of muso's would rather not do. Maybe after that contract ended, Think of starting ur own, Or seek out a better one , or stay true & stick with the label that helped u out. (if they did, they may just come through again;-)

@DWSdesign True. Less Money but waaaay less headache!...and potentially more money if the label does their job well.

Personally, I'd rather stick with a label, Preferable non-exclusive. That said I just signed an exclusive deal for a track, & I don't have the headaches of fee's, Yes you only earn the standard 50/50, But they do take care of a lot of things like marketing & you don't have to worry about fee's etc. All while still being able to get sales reports. So many people want their stuff on itunes, but realize after they don't actually make anything. My advice, 'Invest' ur track with a credible label.

If you use BMI or ASCAP for royalties, then that 19% difference between Ditto and CDBaby isn't squat! It's all fun and games till you find yourself with a hit on your hands! Let's just say you wrote something that BLOWS UP like "Yellow" by Coldplay. You could potentially pull $2000 per day or MORE while it's on top and hundreds per day while it's charting. But the extra percentage from ditto only counts if your song sells downloads or CD's. Be Smart! OWN YOUR ROYALTIES 100%
Hey Marcus! How like you doing right?
I see from your Wiki page that one of your partners is Ditto Music. Did that like have any bearing on like your comments here like? Your review of like three aggregators is obviously just the pointy bit of the iceberg... there's more in the book I guess, yeah?

Heya buddy! Thanks for raising this point - I actually only partnered with Ditto in late July this year (after recording this video) as I was so impressed with their service following my analysis and got in touch with them to offer my help to their musician audience. I'm still trying out some of the newer distribution services but personally I think Ditto seem to be leading the way at the moment.
Thanks,
Marcus
