This is a simple demo of a tech I discovered. What you do is pivot grab out of a true pivot to perform a retreating grab directly out of a dash.

  • Wait, if I'm reading this right, it can only be used out of the opening dash, correct? Slightly old, but I haven't done it this way before. Nice find.

  • thanks

and i mean out of the opening dash animation of each individual dash, so you can do it out of a fox trot as well

  • all these "advanced" techniques can only be used on noobs, a veteran player is thinking to far ahead to be grabbed in this fashion

  • whats good with pivot grabing? first of all you have to dash against them and if they dont do anything against you then, you wtill need to get behind the oponent and it takes to long time. everytime someone tryes to do it to me i can easely hit them with a jab before they have time to grab so can someone please explain whats good with it?

  • @bigbust98 before you can do what is in the video, which is pivoting and then performing a pivot grab, make sure you can slide backwards doing the normal pivot grab, then add the extra pivot before that

sorry, i've been trying to address the normal pivot grab this whole time, and not looking at the extra pivot in there... kinda wasted a bunch of ur time, sorry

  • @bigbust98 control stick forward>pivot and grab button ('z' on gamecube remote, or equivalent on other remote) at the same time

it is basically a pivot grab, but instead of pivoting and then grabbing, you must pivot and grab at the same time. You will know if you are starting to do it right when your character grabs the instant they turn around, then adding momentum will allow you to slide after the grab

  • none of that seems to be working so, what do u press to do this? is it like....................control stick forward>pivot grab? or control sticky forward> block> reverse pivot grab?

  • @bigbust98 I think I have been a little less accurate with what i've been saying, so try this.... run, and then pivot and grab at the same time... this should do the trick and allow you to slide. I hope it works for you this time!

  • @Dood1494 smash the control stick in the opposite direction and then grab? that just sounds like a normal pivot grab. but what exactly do i do thats different and allows me to slide?

  • @bigbust98 ok, so when you are dashing, smash your control stick in the opposite direction and perform a grab very quickly after smashing the control stick ('z' button on GC controller, or 'left' or 'right' on wii remote's directional pad works best) and if you do it right, you will do a pivot grab and slide backwards. hope this helps

  • @Dood1494 so how exactly do u do the move?. the tutorials explanation didnt help.

  • @bigbust98 when he says 'retreat' he's reffering to the direction you move after the grab is performed... which is the opposite direction that you came towards the opponent in,making it a retreat. did that answer your question?
