Firstborn speaking at OFFF 2010 in Paris.

The three-day festival showcases top digital artists, web, print and interactive designers, motion graphics studios, and new music adventurous. OFFF festival provides insight into all culture media platforms.

Eric Decker, Flash Developer

A graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology's New Media Design program, Eric has a background in Flash development, interactive design, 3D and motion. Eric first fell in love with Flash as a high school student when he learned he could use it to create simple games. That love turned into a career, and he is now a Flash Developer at Firstborn Multimedia in New York City. While at Firstborn, he has worked as a lead developer on projects for clients such as Sport Chalet (The Mountain), AirTran (Everyflight) and SoBe (Sobe.com). His projects at Firstborn have received awards in various competitions such as the FWA, the Webby Awards, Pixel Awards and HOW Magazine.

Eric has been a lead developer on many projects at Firstborn, finding innovative solutions to unique problems. His usual workflow involves creating prototypes or tools that aid in the development of a particular project. Since every project is different, each of these tools is customized to target specific problems. For example, he developed a tool for AirTran that allowed a pencil to write out text as users typed it in. Eric enjoys having to solve new problems for each project; he feels it keeps things interesting.

Most recently, Eric's been working on the main site for SoBe. The site focuses on what real people think of SoBe through full screen video interviews filmed and edited by Firstborn team members. Taking advantage of streaming video, the user can skip to any part of the interview or watch each video back-to-back. The second half of the site focuses on the lifestyle associated with "zero inhibitions" and is regularly updated with fresh content.

Mathieu Badimon, Senior Developer

Mathieu Badimon has been working in the Flash industry since 2002 as a freelancer in Paris, and is now a Senior Flash Developer at Firstborn in New York.

Both as a freelancer and as a member of Firstborn, his projects have been recognized with several FWA awards including Site of the Day and FWA Site of the Month.

He is the author of the awarded website LAB, winner of the Navigation category at the Flash Forward Conference in Boston in 2007 and the Experimental category at the Web Flash Festival in Paris in 2006.

Mathieu's innovative work led to the creation of FIVe3D in 2006, a Flash Interactive Vector-based 3D engine. It is currently used in the web industry as an alternative to the traditional 3D engines. The Five3D website has been visited about 400,000 times since its creation and the open-source code has been used in awarded websites. In May 2006, FIVe3D font parsing and storage was the basis for VectorVision, an extension to PaperVision3D, which recently became part of the full package.

At Firstborn, Mathieu develops websites for Microsoft (Zune Journey), Nokia (Music Almighty), M&M's (Join The Hunt) and Ford (The 2010 Mustang).
