@HistoryKrell Yes, it was the Alabama experiments I was referring to.... Disturbing stuff. As for the "Great Leap Forward" in China, I'm aware of the numbers you're talking about, but I guess I always saw this differently from Stalinism and Nazism because the latter two movements intentionally killed most of their victims, whereas Mao killed his through failed economic policy. I guess we're splitting hairs when we're talk about millions of innocents killed in the name of an ideology.

@nojyt: Continuing, I agree the Soviets killed about 20,000,000. It happens to almost all (if noit all) Marxist regines. East Germany, NK. The Alabama experiments were inexcusable. Criminal. I thought you might mention that.
Mao in the worker's paradise probably takes the record. It was thought he was responsible for 39,000,000 Chinese deaths. Now new book documents probably closer to 45,000,000. Refer to "Mao's Great Famine"
by Dutch aurthor head of department at Hong Kong University.

@HistoryKrell Wow, it's been a whole year. But thanks for your feedback and compliments. I agree with what you said. But I would point out that the US military had a couple of famous medical experiments of its own, which injured and possibly killed the test subjects (black soldiers with no knowledge of what was being done to them). And also, if we really want to talk of atrocities, we have to look at Stalinist Russia. NO ONE beats that. 20 million minimum.

@nojyt: Thank you. It is unusual to see historical knowledge on U-tube. Most follow rule that "The less you know, the more you think you know."
Cruel Japanese medical experiments (Unit 731) were legendary. Almost 800,000 were tortured & killed in experiments. Individual acts such as the Hong Kong Hospital bayonetting all the wounded soldiers after British surrendered. Of course, the true professionals were the Germans (millions).
This does excuse any crimes committed by US.

I wouldn't dream of excusing American wartime atrocities, but pick any military and you will find people in it committing crimes - especially when they are in a position of power. That said, the scale and scope of Japanese and German war crimes far outweighs anything that the world has ever seen, and hopefully ever WILL see.
The funny thing here is that you think I'm American, as though only Americans can see the world as I have described it.

US soldiers in the Philipines during the American occupation apply water torture to captures enemy soldiers and civilians, vigilante groups in Tondo, Manila was formed to avenged many filipina women raped by American Soldiers and yes I dont recall any other Nation on earth dropping an atomic bomb to civilian populations except for the US, so yeah, I guess it would be safe to say that your so called Greatest generation are also the Greatest Assholes in History..

World War 2 was the hardest fought war in history. Do you seriously believe that ONLY the Americans bombed civilians? Of course it's inexcusable by today's standards, but it was NOT by the standards of those days and that war. At least the US didn't routinely beat POWs to death or turn women in occupied countries into sex slaves. Check to see what the Japanese did in southeast Asia before you complain of the allies' actions.
General MacArthur is an angel sent by God, period.
