@barrry9 so good luck Barry. You are pretty young to become master .... sometime
I'm so glad to be just a whistler :-P

@crossEyedMary69 Well I'm learning them as well - you basically build them up in 'stages'. The stage I'm at - 'Starter' - you have the bag, the bellows and the chanter pipe. Then, after x-many years you add the drones and make a 'Half Set'. After that, if you want, you can add the 3 regulators to make it a full set - that'll probably be about 30 years after you started learning haha ^_^

@barrry9 I simply cannot understand how he can play Uilleann pipes just only with two hands and one head :-)

No bodhran needed...guitar provides all you need. Pretty fantastic!

I saw them up in Alaska a few years back!
They were some of the first people to inspire me to start
indulging into Irish fiddle as opposed to texas swing! :)
Thanks!!

@METALFREAK03 The Uilleann pipes actually have more parts than the Scottish ones :p
Scottish bagpipes have a chanter (melody pipe) and three 'drones'. a full set of UP's has those AND 3 'regulators'. On UP's the drones lie across your lap and the regulators go over the top of those. You see the pipe that rests on his left arm? That's the bass (lowest pitched) regulator.
Hope you enjoyed the info (y)
