  • Why use iodine opposed to peroxide or alcohol?

  • @bpagliai55 peroxide and alcohol will kill the "good" cells and bacteria in the wound causing longer heal times. BZK or iodine (betadine) works the best for wound cleansing

  • Seems like you will be very well prepared for any emergency - good on you! I'm a lifeguard as well and am looking for ideas to update my trauma kit for my truck. Question for you though, what is the highest medical training you have? I'm in the process of becoming a firefighter/EMR and I am just wondering if I would be able to work with the extent of gear you have prior to finishing that training. Thanks!

  • @JNHstudios I have my EMR now. so you should be good on everything in the video, including npa and opa airways which aren't shown. Im working on my EMT now. advanced kit video should be going up soon

  • pretty good set up. I would recommend getting a real pair shears though. Triangular Bandages and a SAM Splint are good things to have. Also goggles are important to help protect your eyes. You could add pretty much something to every kit, but those are some other items I have in my medical bag in addition to the same kind of things that you have.

  • Why do you have an oxygen bag and oxygen tubing? Do you have a prescription for oxygen?

  • Good kit man. As a first responder we have the same kit. Like the way your BVM sits in your kit. Your kit looks nice and organized! Keep up the good work.

  • @ma7t93 will iodine still kill the bacteria? and where'd you get your trauma bag?

  • @ma7t93 hey man love the video,i also love the fact that you have a BVM in there, very nice, all i carry my trauma kit that i keep in my car is the little annoying CPR mask,i might be considering to put a BVM in there, very helpful vid and thanks:)

  • Something really great you should look for is Methoxyflurane (Penthrox), it's only made in Australia but it's used by all first responders in Australia and New Zealand.
