  • Fond memories of greeting Jerry after this concert and having a drink on one of the beautiful canals in Amsterdam. So sad when I heard years later about the terrible time he was having and his final act of despair. He was a kind man with problems who I wish would have been able to find his way through tough times. He is missed! And "listeningtoit" I wonder how many years of performing at the highest level you have had? Unbelievable how tasteless and callous people can be on youtube.

  • Hadley´s poor vocal technique is beginning to spoil his artistry. Passagio trouble makes voice production instable. No correct register blending. Pity! He possesed beauty of tone and emotion. Hampson´s small sound takes advantage of a consistent vocal technique and outstanding musicianship! I believe Hadley´s sad end is strongly linked to his untimely voice problems...

  • I saw these two singing this at the outdoor arena at Stanford. It was lovely then and

it blows me away now, especially considering Jerry is gone. Observation; Jerry's haircut was only worn when he was singing Rakes Progress at the MET. This must have been filmed shortly after it closed. When I saw him backstage, he was wearing a cap over a shaved head. Lea Frey PS. Boy, they were sensational together, weren't they?

  • I saw these two singing this duet in the outdoor arene in Stanford. It blew me away then and it does now. An observation; this must have been filmed while Jerry was singing in Rake's Progress, judging by the close cropped hair. He wore it this way only when he sang the role at the MET, so far as I know. Lea Frey.

  • great pairing great singers great performance. thank you for posting. enjoy orchestra with opera singer performing broadways songs like violins. ROGHARM

  • I sang Hajj in a concert performance of "Kismet" nearly 16 years ago. It's one of the finest memories of my performing days. The songs are so gorgeous that one felt privileged to sing them:) --

  • How wonderful Jerry Hadley was! And Thomas Hampson, who I adore, almost fades beside him. What talent together. Thank you for this.

  • Fantastic! How sad he isn't here anymore... he was such a gifted man...

  • I agree, howdyx3! ...and such a beautiful and polished performance! So expressive!

  • 2 of my favorite singers! thank you!!
