Saw SD in NZ last night! Love the music but without Larry's style, just a bit flat.Donald Fagen a bit lazy with the lyrics.Listen to your records again Fagen and be wowed...it's all there...and this is what your fans pay to hear.3 girl backing vocals, great !....but girls singing lead on 'Dirty Work' did't work, one voice a little flat in parts.
Fantastic attention to recording production detail NOT evident in live show.An investment in having Larry Carlton on tour would have scored you extra$

Larry uses his lead playing as his "vocals",, just as any great singer uses the best notes, and harmonic choices in accompaniments with the other musical voices, be it other singers, or instruments. That is his approach, and it certainly does work! When a non-singing guitarist can deliver the shivers with a few notes from his axe, he is doing everything right!!!

larry carlton spen 10 years with Four Play...bob James, Nathan East, Harvey Mason, i believe he did very well for himself

@TheIrishlad12 went to see the Dan at Wembley in 1998, and was really disappointed!...everything was turned up to volume 10 and sounded awful. They were there totally for the money and nothing else...will never see them again!

Wonderful to hear Larry all through the years on so many cuts done by successful and weathly people .... definately found the connection to his soul and bares it for you in a protected but vunerable way ..... music is the sound of emotion ... just listen ...

This is one of the most intelligent statements in regard to music, that I have read on youtube. Too many of the young ones think that licks that are musically unintelligible, are "great" because of the speed involved. Not true. Give me "musicality" over instrumental masturbation any day!
