  • I really love progressive rock and Asia and ELP...Asia is a bit formulamatic, but I really like Wetton. There are some songs that Lake can sing that Wetton cannot and visa versa. They are two of the better voices in progressive rock...Wetton can be more powerful, but Lake adds some softness to some bars and his own style as well.. He is not trying to be Wetton... I think musicly this concert is better than most as they really jam more than usually with Wetton. Not perfect, but good stuff..

  • @TheFearlessFreep I am no idiot. ... There is no argument - that's the point; and the main reason I'm here. Some big 70s people and ELP fans like to think there is ... Because they're big ELP/Greg Lake fans. And yeah I like the video, it's a good point of historical reference. However Mr. 'Ok let's just have everybody win today' it was not a "great performance", of the band Asia. I'm not dissing you, just saying "what it is" (was). Carl had a great drum solo, that probably everyone could enjoy

  • @nickellmw "Might not have ..." .. ... Oookay, then. Anyway as I understand it (I have a really good source) John was booted. Btw Greg didn't 'know' all of the songs, he had to read lots of words from a teleprompter, on the floor; that was part of the problem ... of why he was so unforgivably awful. Also hurt his ability to seem confident and connect with the crowd, during the songs, IMO ... it was a bad decision, by all involved .. and effectively the end of the band. Though they're back, now.

  • @Padarack1 You have to hand it to him though, he stepped in when John left to exorcise his demons, as it were. Greg knew all of the songs in the set and he was called in at the LAST MINUTE to rescue the others when they were left without a lead singer. Could you imagine putting together a concert of that magnitude then have your lead say "Oh, by the way, I'm outta here!" right before that show was to go on? Kudos to Greg! He might not have sang Asia songs as well as he does ELP songs,

  • @wentkat it wouldnt be atreat except for elp fans because i would walk out and get my scratch back

  • wow, 28 years later... idiots argue over who was better. It is what it is, deal with it. Enjoy it or not, but if you dis ppl over this whole thing, it is YOU who are the idiot. It was a great performance, as was the original.

    Thanks for sharing the video!

  • I thought he did just fine...

  • @paperpichu You would have to be completely tone-deaf to think that, and to not hear that Greg Lake sang most of the ASIA songs through concert like total shit

  • Of course Greg said "yeah" at the start. Listen to ELP Live at the Isle of Wight for a good example of how much he says yeah...it gets funny sometimes.

  • @Padarack1 Wetton's out-of-tuneness actually is a characteristic sound.
