Police arrest two people over shooting in public place - Minto

Police have charged two people following a shooting in south-western Sydney in December last year.

About 5.45am on Sunday 18 December 2011, a group of male youths were involved in an altercation with a male passenger of a vehicle, in the drive-through area of a fast food restaurant on Pembroke Road at Minto.

During the argument, the male passenger allegedly produced a shot gun and fired at the group before fleeing in the car.

The group of youths also fled before police were alerted.

Officers attached to Macquarie Fields Local Area Command attended, established a crime scene and spoke to witnesses.

Following inquiries, police spoke to a teenager after the incident at Macquarie Fields Police Station where it was discovered he had been shot in the stomach during the altercation.

The 17-year-old male only received superficial injuries.

About 11.15am today (Wednesday 1 February 2012), police from Macquarie Fields Local Area Command conducted a search warrant at a house in St Andrews.

Police arrested a 16-year-old boy at the address and took him to Macquarie Fields Police Station.

The teenager was subsequently charged with shoot with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on the 2 February 2012.

Police also arrested a 35-year-old woman earlier in the day at the same address.

Police will allege that she was the driver of the vehicle.

She was also taken to Macquarie Fields Police Station where she was charged with accessory after the fact shoot with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

She was given conditional bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on the 22 February 2012.
