We took these pictures of Higgins Lake on Thursday, April 9, 2009 in the late morning from 5500 feet down to 2000 feet MSL. The ice was making a quick retreat and the colors of Higgin's waters showed through in it's outstanding clarity. Many of the shots focus on Treasure Island, the South State Park, and the Cut River. Enjoy!

  • I've lived in Higgins Lake my whole life and the pictures of the island make me so curious about it. Thanks for sharing.

  • Mr. Doutt ,

out of all of your videos, this is my favorite by far!!

  • Thats BADASS!!

  • My family has a cottage near the end of the south side of flag point. Most beautiful lake ever.

  • I grew up on the shoreline North of Flag Point. As a young child I remember when Treasure Island was owned entirely by Robert Seese and undeveloped except for his cabin. Each year the melting of the ice was a passing rite of spring. Thank you for a beautiful expression of my childhood memories. I am returning this month for a memorial service for my Mother. She lived her entire life there and would have enjoyed seeing this.

  • Very nice photos i live right near that little island

  • These pictures look familiar....hmm...oh yeah, I was there! :)

  • I grew up on Higgins Lake, but have been in the sunny south for years now. When you can't get home in person, this was a real nice cybor visit. Very well done.

  • I have realized the beauty of this lake for over half a century. Have traversed it from the east to the west; when ice was 27" thick. Have walked the entire width.

Have flown it twice; but only in the summertime. I get cold you know. I am growing old.

    Beautiful! Thank You!
