Lance and Bill have to rid the Earth of the very H. R. Giger aliens that have invaded it in this excellent conversion of the arcade coin-op Contra. This game boasts superb graphics and really shows off the graphic capabilities of the CPC. Along with some great sound effects the gameplay is also just right and it's a really enjoyable challenge. The 3D sections are quite impressive and it's well worth completing as the ending is hilarious.

  • Isnt gryzor the japanese name for contra?

  • Yep

  • This and Renegade had frickin awesome graphics on the CPC. Good to see you complete it. I never managed although I did get to the heart! Damn!

Don't remember the music. Is that 6128 only?

My favourite gun was the beam weapon too

  • No, in the title screen you can change (by pressing "esc" ) if you want in game the music or the sound effect!

  • awesome dude what game are u doing next ?

  • Well, i don't know at the moment, my dream is switchblade but it is very hard and long, i hope one day to complete it.

I've tried prehistorik 1&2 and both games slowdown a lot and this is annoying to me, maybe the next game will be a platform.

  • Felt more like a kick to the balls.

  • I love how the ending advertises a soundtrack, yet the game only had ONE FREAKING SONG....

  • i used to spend hours on this when i younger, such a great game. great video, brings back many good memories.

  • My goodness. I played this SO much on my Amstrad as a wee boy. I was totally enthralled with it, and shocked as hell when the World exploded at the end... But watching this long play I am struck by how SHORT the game actually was... Back then it felt like I was playing for HOURS when I finally got to the end.... Of course, I probably had been (starting again and again and again till I completed it)... I managed to get to the end twice in all the time I played it. Brilliant game!
