That's so horrible! I've already set my mind to buy the N82 and now I've found out about it's d-pad noise!

Don't worry. It's a rather isolated case. On the Howard Forums, only one other person has this issue. I sent in my phone for the free warranty, and they sent me a whole new N82!!!

No sticky noise this time?

No, but if you put your ear really close to it, there's definite a faint noise. My biggest fear is that if I press it enough over time, the noise will be there (just like how my first phone was). I wouldn't know yet because I actually mailed it in because the replacement phone has over 6 dead pixels! They're replacing the LCD this time instead of sending me a new phone. :(

:( Do you think the black N82 wouldn't have the sticky noise?

I think it's more about the design of the phone. Just because the d-pad and keypad are black doesn't mean the assembly methods aren't the same.
But honestly, this sticky button problem is very on a per-phone basis. I wouldn't worry about it. Plus, it only costs $6 something to mail it back to the repair center via USPS with delivery confirmation. $13 total if you add $500 in insurance.
