Dr. Chatterji, was born and raised in India where he became a piano student of Hosie Palamkote at the Delhi School of Music. Dr. Chatterji developed a deep love of music and the piano, this paid off when he was asked to study under Professor Erina Smorodinova. Who was star pupil of eminint pianist Emil Gilels and Profesor Rudolf Kerrer, first prize winner of the All Soviet Piano Competition. Dr. Chatterji received thier hightest degree.

Dr. Chatterji moved the the United States about twenty years ago and started teaching piano. Over the years Dr. Chatterji has taken the Moscow method of playing and molded it with his own style of playing and created his philosophy and method of playing piano. Dr. Chatterji believes that the instrument should become an extension of the music and the pianist is the conduit by which the music gets interpreted and flows through. In this way several pianist could play the same song, but because each player has a different life experience the music gets interpreted and ultimately sounds different as each pianist play the song. Truly, Musical Enlightenment.

  • what the fuck? weirdest way of playin piano...screw this

  • It saddens me to think that somebody who states that music is their life, could make a statement like you have. Very Rude!! I can tell from your shallow mind and lack of vocabulary that perhaps you need to rethink your attitude towards others and come to the realization that each of these students as well as Dr. Chatterji play with more feeling and passion than you could ever achieve. They have learned to feel the music.

  • In 2004 He was my Teacher and he has changed my life in music and playing the piano with heart. I have missed his lessons and teaching passion, I wish that I could go back to then and hear him play again. After 6 yrs in the Army and Med. retire I want to go back to him and learn what has to give to the world of music and be his student again. Where ever he is at in this world, I envy his now students. Loving the music always Ismael E. Vega.

  • @xylide Same here.. I took lessons from him in 1998 and he was the most enlightening teacher ever. I came back to California to look for him, but he had left. I envy his now students too. I'm happy that he continues to teach and inspire students.

  • He thaught me more than music.. he thaught me how to love and to internalize deeply to appreciate music.. A level I wouldn't have archived (and very quickly) under his guidance! :) He is by far the greatest teacher iv met!
