This is a sampler of TV commercials for radio stations that were made between 1979 and 1984. They all use jingles and music from JAM Creative Productions in Dallas. The spots were made by a variety of other video and animation production companies.

Today, most TV commercials for radio focus on the station's music or current contest. But in the early 80s the focus was to create a friendly image for the station, and relate to the community and listeners being served. Most of these spots are prime examples of this bygone era in broadcasting.

  • Trebuchet MS is a poor font choice for a video like this (wasn't designed until 1995!)

  • @pannoni1 - Point taken, but we were just trying to convey information, not make a graphical statement. One problem with YouTube is that you can't replace your upload without losing the "view" count and all the comments. If we could I might change the font, but what's really awful here is the audio. When this was uploaded YouTube was using a HORRIBLE audio level compressor setting. It makes us cringe, because our original sounds SO much better. They don't use it now, but we'd lose 2 years!

  • Was that Ronnie de Asis (the voice behind the first commercial in this video, WABC)?

  • No, the voice-over is Dan Ingram (legendary WABC DJ).

  • that is Ernie Anderson voicing the WCOZ commercial?

  • Yes, it certainly is. Better known to some as the iconic voice of ABC-TV prime time for many years.

  • just noticing this, the KDWB commercial bed later came as a production bed on a package called "data seek" done for CKWX.

  • Hey isn't that Markie Post (aka Christine Sullivan) in the KDWB promo?

  • @AdamJ617 The WMAL production bed is from their JAM jingle package "Focal Point."

  • Today Ross Brittan who was one half of Ross and Wilson on WABC thirty years ago is now on WOGL in Philadelphia as he is part of their Breakfast Club Morning Drive Show as I listen to it every morning.

  • and don't forget, WCAU did use power station, and hitradio 1 and 2

  • @JAMcreative and jwgreek8606, I wonder if the WCOZ ad is to plug the AC format that only lasted one year in Boston. BTW, Ernie Anderson, you will be missed.

  • What's the title of the jingle for the WMAL 63 music?
