32 years to the date since the tragic 1982 Alpine Meadows avalanche the took the lives of seven people, Auburn One Book, One Community was able to put together a once-in-a-lifetime panel consisting of individuals uniquely bonded by the tragedy. Moderated by Auburn Journal editor Dennis Noone, the panel consisted of: Hon. Judge James Garbolino (the presiding judge on the civil trial), Anna (Conrad) Allen (the lone survivor in the avalanche who was buried alive for 5 days), Larry Heywood (Alpine Meadows Ski Patrol Director), and Jennifer Woodlief (author of "A Wall of White").
