This is my first cigar box uke. Thanks to Mike at Mainland Ukes for giving me the idea to salvage my old friend, the Lehua Long-neck Soprano, that suffered an unfortunate demise in my driveway one fine morning (see my channel wallpaper for the "Toyota vs Lehua" results. The box vendor on eBay offered to personalize it with an inscription at no charge, so I had him put the "Thom Brennan Signature Model" bit on there. God only knows what he thought THAT was all about! It came unfinished, so I put some satin polyurethane on it to simulate the original neck finish. And thanks to John Carruthers at Carruthers Guitars in Venice, CA for the great job he did cutting away the old neck block and providing me with something I could use. I would have butchered it without the right tools!

  • Nice job on that CBU...!!!

  • @WhenDogsSing Thank you! That means a lot coming from a fine builder like you.

  • MARVELOUS new friend! ;°)

  • @Little6ster Just like my old friend, but with a different accent .;-}

  • Great stuff. I must ask though, what was your uke doing in the driveway?

  • @GCEAtuning

    Well... One morning I was off to work, and as usual I was bringing the uke with me. I loaded it on the passenger's side along with a backpack and it must have fallen to the driveway just as I closed the door and rounded the car. I never heard the drop, maybe because it was a soft case. That's the only explanation I could come up with. As I backed up, I felt a slight bump... In the Toyota v Ukulele battle, there could only be one clear winner!
