Also, people can get drunk and get married and not even know each other. Another point I wanna throw out there. I think "Divorce" should be illegal rather than gay marriage. Cause It's "Death do us part" not "Oh, I was stupid I didn't love you so I'm going to leave you and do this again." In my opinion. If gay marriage is legal the only thing that will happen is its going to give closed minded fools one more thing to fuss about even though it doesn't even concern them.

Now here's where the problem comes in the government put out the marriage laws so that they can tax people who get married. When the USA first came about the government was not telling people who can and can't marry. In fact for 1000s of years governments had no say in people getting married. I'm not against two gay people getting married. But I will ask why do you want a paper telling you that you are married.

You want to know why we use The Constitution: "The Constitution of the United States is the supreme law of the United States of America. The first three Articles of the Constitution establish the three branches of the federal government with checks and balances to support a separation of powers." IN other words the Government should have no say in who gets married. That's the problem. People want the government to give gay people the right to marry.
