Microsoft's Speech recognition in Windows Vista seems to be biased.
I first show it working in Word 2007, then in Notepad,...and then try to get it to work in OpenOffice. There is only one microphone, so the audio you hear is the same audio the OS hears.
This is marketed as an OS feature, paid for as an OS feature and yet it does not work at all when used with OpenOffice.
Here demonstrate how it works nicely with Word 2007 and even Notepad, however when trying the same tests with OpenOffice Writer, it simply just craps out.

Our own government has failed us miserably in bringing us relief from Microsoft, but it appears that IBM and Opera may finally manage a change through the EU, who have the guts to do what our own politicians and judges lack the will to do on our behalf.

Actually it's very very bad if it's intentionally done. And also it's illegal. As in "separate your company into multiple smaller ones" illegal.

Haha this is a really cool test! Could be other reasons why it doesn't work but it looks really bad for Microsoft.

WARNING!
The Obama administration is planning to implement a compulsory medical records database, using the 'stimulus' funding bill. Microsoft will be the contractor!
To reiterate: this is a compulsory (NO opt-out) database, to be run by Microsoft. This is what Microsoft's U.S.$20M donation bought from Barack Obama.
For those of you in the U.S.--FIGHT THIS! Obama's administration will foist this privacy-violating legislation on you.
Considering that Obama won't release HIS medical records...

It's actually great. And I'm a GNU/Linux user.
But as we see, they're undermining concurrent software again.

Nice video - Vista speech recognition actually works damn well in this test. As for the OO - update freaking thing plus check font and language selected in it. 5 stars from me:)
