Watch those solid concrete barriers get ripped out of the way like nothing, gives you a good idea of how dead you could be.

'Cue the mudslide... aaaaand cut!'

Oh dear, I have to travel this road to get home and now I am afraid I will have to take a detour :( Anyone know how long the detour is?

They are not expecting to have the rock slide cleaned up till January according to the latest news reports. They won't build the new corrider through the Ocoee Valley because it will cost 1 billion dollars.

This video has the AP logo on it because it was picked up by them afterwards. The raw footage is available on the Chattanooga Times Free Press website.

In continuation, this was caused by heavy rains from Tropical Storm Ida and recent minor earthquakes in the area, no dynamite. This is a highway they want open, and it will now be closed for a month. Even though it doesn't look like much, it is a major route for the area, especially with Interstate 40 closed between Tennessee and North Carolina from an even bigger rock slide. It's now very difficult to get between Tennessee and North Carolina if you're a truck driver.

Okay, just to clear this up for everybody, since I live in the area where this happened. This is totally real, no dynamite involved. There were two rock slide that day, this Tuesday, in this area. The first early in the morning, which is why there was already heavy equipment, workers, a reporter, etc. on the scene. Then the second one, which is shown here, happened in the afternoon. The video was shot by a reporter for the Chattanooga Times Free Press. The full video can be found on their site.

No, it wasn't dynamite that triggered this slide. It was dynamite that created the road bed, and the rock slope itself, so in a way you could say it was not natural. However, the slide happened "on its own" with no explosives. The reason they were filming is because a smaller slide had happened earlier (see the rock sitting on the road at the beginning). They knew the slope was unstable, and guessed right that it would slide again.
