A motorized computer controlled timelapse camera system created by Ron Sears and James Nick Sears in collaboration with Sep Kamvar for 9pm, a long-term photography project dedicated to capturing the evolution of the San Francisco skyline.
A pair of high-end DSLRs captures a wide high-resolution view of the city while the motorized enclosure keeps them safe in standby mode under the eave of the house and extends them out for an optimal view for taking photographs. A pair of glass windows protect the cameras while in standby or while taking photographs during rain, but open when the weather is dry for a fully unobstructed view. Photo sessions are automatically scheduled to occur daily at sunrise and at 9pm, and custom sessions can be remotely scheduled via a web interface.
