Documentary on deadhead parking lot culture. Aired on PBS in the early 90s. Produced by the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and the Institute on Popular American Culture. Featuring sociologist Rebecca Adams, Michael Kaern, Ph.D. from Boston University, and a cast of thousands. Much of the footage was filmed during the Summer, 1989 tour.

  • This is a wonderful and very thought provoking look at one of the most unique subcultures of the world. I was an avid follower of the Grateful Dead for many years, and wish it still existed today as it did when I began the journey. This does an excellent job of showing the unique and multi-faceted environment that existed on tour. GD tour made me the person that I am today. I learned to respect my fellow man, take care of myself and others, and most importantly have fun doing so.
