Thanks for your requests, here's part 1 of how to make beats on the Korg Electribe SX sampler. Sound is still a bit harsh and unbalanced, in part 2 further soundshaping and improvement will be explained.

Sounds: Roland TR-909

For other drummachine beats, see my other vids.

  • Very good tutorial. I enjoyed it, even though I don't own ESX-1! (I have ES-1.)

  • Thanks, the upgrade is worth it by the way!

  • I got mine TODAAYYYYY, awesome!!!!!

  • I got my ESX1 a few weeks ago and I found this very useful to get started :) Hope to see a part 2 someday :) Greetings from Italy :D

  • @muzik4machines im still a bit stumpted on the effects. i think im rihgt in that you set the three effects up- then you choose which one to use in the other section. Thing is, when i alternate and go back to another effect on a different 'part' within the pattern the effect seems to change. Still, ace twiddling all those switches...and the sounds you can get wow!!!

  • @muzik4machines i have to double check where 'C' is everytime i 'jam' on my Electribes, although everytime i get going on them i get a great deep groove going with them. Had myself an acoustic night tonight but have Reason / Record on on my laptop in the other rrom with the electric guitar plugged in ready to continue recording- cant do it all at once !!

  • @easydp no i dont find a use for song mode (and im sorry for being offended) i just use pattern switching and play with that from 1 to 8 hours with no plan, just pure live jam

  • @easydp dont know the real name of the 1-16 keys on the tribe, i call them chicklets as on my old 707 they looked juste like the gum pieces

you can try, but you cant record with a keyboard, you can play the 2 melodic parts(and the 10 drum pads) from a keyboard, but if you press record and play on the keyboard, nothing is recorded :(

  • @muzik4machines maybe i should. no need to be offended, i just misinterpreted what you where saying. no bother. So, do you use the song mode on the Electribe? i havent yet- just switch between the patterns n may stick to doing it that way to keep it more like im playing a live instrument if you know what i mean

  • @muzik4machines oh. ok. didnt realise what you where saying- thought you where maoning that the looping time was only so long. Which, if you were you can see my point. Anyway, what a chiclet- i haven't tried recording into it with a keyboard yet- been using the MCP for that. Too much equipment (which im v gratefull to have) but too little time! damn the 9 to 5!!!!
