The Platform for a Referendum ("Plattform Volxabstimmung" www.volxabstimmung.at) on the EU Reform Treaty organised a Human Chain around Parliament in Vienna to show the Austrian Members of the Austrian Parliament that -- if they ratify this treaty -- they do it Not In Our Name. More than 5000 people peacefully marched through Vienna up to Parliament. The Austrian Government, like all Governments of all member states of the EU - except for Ireland - does not intend to give the people their right to vote on this treaty.

This message of the Human Chain is not only directed to the Members of Parliament in Austria, however, but also to the peoples of Europe in other member states, who shall know that they are not alone in their wish to decide for themselves.

International Solidarity with the peoples of Europe, who are united in the wish to decide for themselves within their democracies!

The number of supporting organizations rises by about 2 a week. Today, the platform consists of more than 60 organizations from piece movements, globalisation critics, democracy movements, anti-nuclear movements, and many others, including:

  • NO TO LISBON TREATY

  • Thanks from Poland

  • barflymatty How right you are, let us hope sanity prevails with a clear NO VOTE - it would be such a tragedy to see Ireland made a whore and sold by the Politicians who act as its pimps.

Clearly a YES vote will make a raddled whore of Ireland, as you rightly say the spirit is being sucked out and replaced with Grey EU franchise & each time the ratchet moves another click another Irish Politician trousers his reward for the betrayal!

  • "Most of those planning to vote "no" tomorrow have one thing in common: they do not trust a treaty that they do not understand. They show a good deal more common sense than the politicians".

This statement clearly overlooks just how much many of the politicians & other parasites hope personally to make by selling out the democracy, self determination, liberty & independent sovereignty so hard won. However the great gains at the troughs on the gravy train corrupt many otherwise honest men!

  • I will be voting NO to the NWO and the Lisbon treaty....it's the sane thing to do. Say NO to Lisbon!!! At least we have a vote and I intend to use mine

  • i really hate this treaty it means thats us irish won't able have any more referendums or individual say on any eu matter thanks alot europe you just screwed us over cause i'm sick of seeing ireland let in any all foreigners cause its just too hard to get job over here in ireland now the last time i was at job interview they turned me down but hired some wanker from the UK so i'm saying no and voting no when the time comes to vote in june cause there is no one going to tell me what to do.

  • That is one of the most massive democratic problems we have today - not only in the US, but all over the world. It is not only the angle they use about what they say, it is especially what they do not say at all. For instance, when the EU leaders signed the document in Lisbon, Lisbon saw the largest demonstration since 4 decades. 200.000 went onto the streets. But no mention of it in international press or TV. Only the EUObserver noted it.
