Dr. Irving Langmuir was a brilliant scientist whose research went from surface chemistry to clouds seeding.

Several mathematical adsorption models are named aftter him, and even devices, like the Langmuir Trough, used to investigate molecular properties and interactions at the air-water interface; today this device is widely used in nanotechnology reseach.

Dr. Langmuir was awarded with the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1932, because of his work on surface chemistry.
