The Center of Excellence in Ocean Energy Technology is only a little more than a year old, but it's in a great location. It's just off the beach and, as director Rick Driscoll points out on a map, it is just 15 miles from the Gulf Stream.

Driscoll says that by investing in ocean energy technology, Florida will do more than just fill its power needs. It will create jobs and make the state a leader in an emerging industry.

  • @thalonelygirl lolol, what?

  • Its what we need!!

    greenisourgardendotcom

  • Use these turbines with my underwater suspension tunnel idea venturi section to get more energy from them and prevent fouling while regulating upwelled cooler waters from below. They can be used with Ocean Thermal Enegy Conversion (OTEC) also to regulate hurricanes, tornadoes, severe weather and restore Arctic Ice.

  • @thalonelygirl Dam they turned it off ? i guess someone stopped paying the bill.

  • @thalonelygirl Ummmm what? Seriously though, what do you mean?

  • I guess this plan is over now that the gulf stream is no longer active.

  • BP world's no.1 ocean polluters!!!!

  • How will the oil spill affect this project?

  • This is a new being for Florida.

The effect of all the CO2 absorbing into the worlds oceans, is

a far greater threat to marine life.

Any source of green energy is better for our children then

relying on fossil fuel. I commend the courage these people

have shown, to produce this video!

  • A little bit skeptical. It seems like the marine life would most definitely be affected... and for what? A third of one out of fifty states?
