  • ... its got a gui by default = hugs. openbsd 100% different version of Unix.. different goals..

  • easier to use vmware or virtual box in PC-BSD. JMO you should be fine with using the freespace.. just make sure its enough if not resize the windows partition.

  • People I have a question! Can I install PC-BSD 7.1.1 on laptop next to vista (in bsd installer)by using free space on disk or I have to create a new partition? I need that vista for a few very important programs ...

  • open bsd and free bsd is manual installation. open bsd = more secure. free bsd = not so secure as open bsd but more popular

  • yes it has, but their graphical thing kinda sucks! you can't create new partition, delete em... this is reaaallly baad!

  • mmm, pc-bsd doesnt have a grafic ser interface for its partition manager?

archlinux uses cfdisk wich is the de-facto partition editor from linux.

  • So, PC-BSD's Partition Manager is tooo minimal for me, I can't create new partition and things. So, let's try arch linux :D

  • i use archlinux, iused freebsd but having no flash sucks.

i aos used openbsd some time, i prefer openbsd.

but openbsd doesnt have wpa_supplicant or flash.

    freebsd doesnt have flash.

    so i use linux.

  • what do you use? Or, what would you use? Only a question, I'll use PC-BSD...

  • pc-bsd is basically a "distro" of freebsd, focused more on end-users thats why it is said to be free-bsd with hugs.

the hugs being tools for the regular user to configure his system instead of just editing text files of course you can do both.

openbsd is another bsd, focused more on code cleanliness and security, openbsd is the bsd for the paranoids.
