June 12, 2010. The 10 year old boy was swimming on the west side of the river when he was caught in the current and swept down river. He was able to get out of the river's east side on a steep bank. The Orting Valley Swift Water team and Swift Water members from the Pierce County Sheriff had to make three attempts by boat to successfully rescue the boy and bring him back across the river. A Fish and Wildlife officer also assisted. He was one very lucky kid.
What so you were all there? You all watch too many rescue movies its not all perfect. After I saw this a few times I can see how you sidelinders can do it better right? good luck with that Get out there next time "vollie" oh maybe thats why you dont volunteer....easier watching on dry land and complaining and nit picking than getting out and working for once....just saying GOOOOOOOOOOOO OVFR you rock,

Like they say, third times the charm. I'm glad the boy was able to get on land and that the rescue was successful.
