Incredible surveillance video from a nearby construction company catches the final moments of this twin-engine plane as it plummets into the ground in Wheeling, Illinois. The plane crashed about a mile short of the runway and killed all four people aboard. According to the NTSB, because the pilot failed to maintain airspeed as the aircraft was preparing to land, it stalled and crashed to the ground. (2006)

  • I knew the pilot/owner of the plane. I worked in a small auto shop down the street from his North brook, IL. Sybaris location. I worked on Kens silver 1984 lincoln mark IV All the time, starting cica 1986/7. GREAT guy, always a smile and a joke! He gave me a personalized Sybaris jacket for a tip one day, does'nt sound like much, but it was expensive at that time...and I still have it to this day. PLEASE do NOT disrespect this man! R.I.P. Kenneth c. Knudson.

  • People can be cold and insensitive until it happens to a loved one. I was in Nam 68 infantry and to see death is not something to be cool or flippant about but is the end of someones life. They had a childhood and played little league baseball with mom and dad watching and mom saved their baby teeth. Think about it.

  • Looking at this, strange don't you think, why the CCTV outside the Pentagon didn't pick up a huge airliner crashing into it.

  • @dingoklectos Do you know anything about air craft? It is obvious from your comments you are clueless. It could have very well been icing related, ya Dingo. Just enough ice to freeze over the Airspeed indicator pilot tube, in conjunction with an Airspeed pilot tube heater failure. He could have had a stroke! I do not care if you are the best "tin kicker" in the world, It is speculation. No one will ever know what happened, and most certainly NOT YOU!! Get over yourself!!

  • @dingoklectos Yes, airspeed possibly due to an iced up airspeed pilot tube, due to possible airspeed pilot tube heater failure. Also could have been pilot error, not turning on heater. All anybody can do is speculate, we will never know exactly what happened. I do not care if you are the best "tin kicker" in the world, it is only speculation! R.I.P. to all on board!

  • @RealPilotFSX IT IS AT THE NTSB SITE. LOOK UP THE DATE OF THE CRASH, THEN UNDER LOCATION. THEY SAY IT WAS FAILURE TO MAINTAIN PROPER AIRSPEED. MY HAVE ICED UP PILOT TUBE FOR AIR SPEED INDICATOR, IN CONJUNCTION WITH PILOT TUBE HEATER FAILURE. THE PEOPLE IN THIS PLANE WERE EXPERIENCED PILOTS, IM LEANING TOWARDS HEATER FAILURE.

  • @POL3INAROW All respect for him, I'm a CFI CFII and MEI and I know that this is one of the most likely causes of accidents for multi-engine accidents. Actually, in list of frequency:failure to maintain directional control, failure to maintain constant airspeed, poor preflight and judgement, and inadvertent stalling, I know it sounds crazy, because it fit this flight characteristic perfectly, but those are the 4 biggest reasons for GA crashes, he just happened to fall into one of them

  • comeone please find the NTSB report when its published and link me? i wanna read it

  • After landing they split me and dad up.Told them dad took a nap and I was flying.Kept asking me why I was in this airspace. Told them I kept it what dad had it on and I didn't have a clue where I was. After awhile dad had them laughing and knew we weren't up to no good. They filled us up on government gas and we were gone. All's well.

  • We don't know what caused it. Could have been having a stroke, could have fallen asleep, could of would of etc, etc, etc. My dad fell asleep in our Cessna 180 and he was the type you can't wake up.I was around 9 and I couldn't reach the foot pedals. Assumed it was ok, took the yoke and kept it on his settings. Flew it for about 400 miles then noticed a jet beside me. pointing down. Finally got dad awake and the jet pilot was pointing down. Knew this couldn't be good. Followed him in and landed.

  • How can one make such a mistake?

    No stall warning indicator.

Being licensed for multi-engine, pilot should know better.

    Any pilot should know better.

    Certain this is the cause?

  • my god thats horrible. rip
