Beyond Titanic - how fluid maths makes better movies

Want to know how scientists helped animate water gushing into the Titanic? Find out in this video.

Technology has developed since the Titanic animation and more research has been done on capturing the maths and physics of different fluid effects. Fluids are more realistically depicted now and bubbles, splashes, foaming, wetting and other effects have been added.

The fluid animation software is being developed by CSIRO and ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute) in South Korea in a joint, four-year research project.

In this video, you can see the new technology and watch how maths can make objects come to life.

The ship wouldn't have sank if they just hit the iceberg straight on center. Only the front bow would've gotten damaged. But instead they decided to turn and hit the 5 compartments.
