I always admired how this song would celebrate the life of John's uncle with an upbeat tune rather than focus on the sad fact of his uncle's death at such a young age. I don't understand why John changed it towards the end of his own life by slowing down the song midway, as heard here - making it seem sad before picking up the beat again.

The video quality is what it is and despite that, I'm glad you posted this treasure. Thanks for sharing!

I sure do miss him! John Denver had such an impact on my life. I remember listening to this song as a teenager and loving it so much. Later, when I became a mother I named my first son Matthew. :-)

I wish someone would write/sing a song about John Denver with this quality. He certainly deserves it (and more) and there are certainly several good song-writers that admire him and would be pleased to do it. If not, the great YouTube artists can also contribute! :)
