Video shot at night on January 9, 2006 of the great fire just outside San Antonio Texas, burning in Helotes, and known as the Helotes Mulch Fire. The fire started at a mulch pile that was 80 feet high and 400 feet across. The damage and risk to the environment, including air and water was severely underestimated at the time. Now there are questions as to who is responsible to put it out and clean it up. The state finally stepped in to assist the owner of the mulch to put out the fire. Update 2-25-07, this fire is still burning after two full months and is expected to not be put out for yet a few more weeks. The fire has been an unprecedented environmental disaster and the response from local county and state government has been totally inept in its handling. This clip was for San Antonio Public Access TV.
