  • Nice tones! I am wondering if I should get this four strings or five strings. I am a funk and rock player who does jazz as well. I wonder if I would ever end up using the low B though. Please give me suggestions.

  • @bassist99909 I rarely use the Low B in songs....actually I don't really play much lower than the Low E .The benefit of a 5 string is that it allows you to play lower scales and keys higher up on the neck where fret spacing is smaller and when running up/down a scale, you can go higher than the octave without moving you hand up the neck. I have been playing 5 string for close to a year now and I don't think I could ever switch back to 4.

  • @SmileElectric7 Thanks. I love the GK head. I have been gigging with it for about three years now and it still sounds great... However when it comes to my tone I do give my Ampeg cab alot of credit as well. I actually play a Bongo 5H now and I think it sounds even better!

  • Is this the classic Lava Pearl color? I just sold my Bongo 5 in lava pearl. Biggest regret I have of the past 2 years. I am going to go cry now

  • @dasgre0g I'm pretty sure it is the Lava Pearl. I know what you mean though...I am trying to move up to a 5 string right now and I wish I could get a Bongo 5, but I just don't have the money. I am going to have to sell this and settle for something cheaper and it is killing me to have to part with it. I will miss this bass sooooo much.

  • Got a dilema. Getting a new bass soon, and I can't decide between a Musicman Bongo and a Spector Euro 4LX Classic. Any suggestions?

  • @JefferyWhiganshire I've never played a Spector, but I've been looking into one myself.

  • @bassist99909 with a 5 string if you have no plans of using a b string, you can string it up as usual, eadg, but add a c string for higher register stuff.

  • @SmileElectric7 I can help you, if you are still working. I play a GK 1001rb and I'll tell you that you will never regret buying an RB. I haven't had any trouble, and I've had it for a year, and I bought it used. I have a music man sub bass (kind of a budget stingray) and I get sounds I love.

  • still cant decide if bongo basses are ugly or some of the coolest ive seen

  • It's not orange color bass, but it white burns with you slap

  • Hey man! Sounds great! Im looking into the GK RB series.. I play a stingray 5 overall hows the amp workin for you? Your tone is excellent just wondering how they hold up overtime
