  • Actually, I don't know where you got your information about the track, but that's Royce McAfee on drums; probably James Anderson on bass; and I played the lead-guitar parts. Rocky & Dusty Hill had nothing to do with the track.

  • I read in a book many years ago that the Warlocks backed Lady Wilde. I assumed that meant the record but perhaps it was live appearances instead. I appreciate the additional information and will update everything accordingly. The label credits Royce as producer. Was he Lady Wilde's manager also?

  • Hi Vicky, it's terrific that you've found this video. I dip into to it every now and again to see if any family member has seen it and commented. I'm delighted that Marie is alive and kicking in Ennis... I was talking with my wife Eileen about her just yesterday and wondering if she was ok. I haven't seen her since the late 90's but tell her all the family in the UK including Ann, Mike, Pat and their children and grandchildren are well. I'll contact you again soon. Tom.

  • I'm interested in knowing about all of the folks that have posted on this video. Real names - I'll getcha started - my name is Vicky Williams (Smith). This is all very fascinating to me and I wish I had seen this when it was first posted. I hope to hear from somebody. Especially Tom Murray. Hope to hear back. I'll keep checking....

  • @TomMurray60 Hey Uncle Tom!! Vicky here, Mary's oldest daughter. We saw this video for the first time tonight. We were haveing a New Year celebration at my house and singing songs. My sister-in-law found it and when we saw you made a post, Mom was excited. She's not been in contact with her own family in years. It would be nice to have some contact with family. I hope you see this post and let us hear from you. Happy New Year!!

  • I'm Lady Wilde's oldest daughter, and we just saw this video and heard this song on YouTube for the first time tonight when my sister-in-law found it. Just to clear things up, her name is Mary aka Marie (Murray) Smith, she is still alive and well, living in Ennis, TX, a small town just south of Dallas. I am curious to know who basura2001 is, how you found a recording of this song and thank you for posting it. It blew our minds to hear it again after all these years. You made Mom's day! Thanks!

  • Source: (can't post HTML herre, so search for a website called "ZZ Top History", that's where I found the reference to Frank Beard, The Cellar Dwellers and Layd WIlde

  • I think they are speaking about "The Cellar Dwellars" band that Frank Beard came from, before he joined up with Rocky and Dusty in The Warlocks?

  • "After playing with The Starliners and with The Deadbeats, Rocky & Dusty Hill started The Warlocks with Frank Beard, in Dallas, Texas. Beard came from Fort Worth: Previously he had played with The Hustlers and with The Cellar Dwellers (who had a single to their credit). On their first recording they backed the singer Lady Wilde on a 45rpm that Ara, a small Texan label, released."

  • The singer is my eldest sister Mary Smith (nee Murray) born March 1942 in Liverpool, England. Married Stan Smith in Maryland in 1962 now divorced. Recorded some stuff with Royce McAffee in the mid-sixties.

  • The Warlocks came later, and were probably the backup band for live appearances. They had nothing to do with the recording sessions. As I recall Royce was her manager at the time; but after playing on the sessions I went on to other things. If she switched or continued with Royce, I wouldn't have known. But I know all the players in the recording sessions, and the Warlocks were not involved.
