When you don't want to name your baby boy David or Zeus, what is the sweet-spot for choosing his name? We are struggling with this one, as I am expecting a boy, and I feel like I have to tear through school rosters so I don't pick a super-trendy name. My favorite is when people suggest I use a family name, like someone from past generations. Ha! A name from one of the esteemed former racists and alcoholics of generations past? One of them? We aren't the Mountbattens!
@Balizabet Thanks, yes Ashley was quite common as a male name in the USA and is still relatively popular in Australia, New Zealand and UK.

@VivvElise I love the name Noah too but in 2012 naming your son Noah is a bit weird dont you think? Like "get the Ark ready " we are going adrift again? Grab a Zebra . Noah? But I do love it and I overthink names like no one else. Maybe Noa but doesn't that stand for National Oceanographic and Atmospheric? A federal agency kind of has that name too....

Ashley, that is what I called my boy and all I got from the U.S. was that it was a girl's name BUT anyone knows that (except in the USA and Canada) the girl's way of spelling it is Ashleigh or Ashlee. Be different, its cool and Ashley got nick named Ash and Ashman. Oh BTW he died 12 May, 2008.
